NSM100 modules in status NONCRITICAL "MIDPLANE VPD FAULT"

Issue

  • ONTAP Event Message System shelf warning report. Example:

monitor.shelf.warning: Fault reported on disk storage shelf attached to channel 0x. Check fans, power supplies, disks, and temperature sensors.

  • PSM section in ::> system node run -node <node_name> -command storage show fault shows midplane VPD failures for both modules. Example:

  1 [NSM100 A]    : NONCRITICAL       03,0C,00,20   MIDPLANE VPD FAULT, MASTER, RESERVED
  2 [NSM100 B]    : NONCRITICAL       03,04,00,A0   MIDPLANE VPD FAULT, RESERVED, LOG DATA VALID

  • All other sections in storage fault show as OK
  • The issue remains after a re-seat of each NSM100 shelf module.
