  • FAS8300

Answer

  • The ds.sas.drivephy.disableErr message is not the initial indicator of a disk missing event
  • This log is generated after the disk has already become unresponsive or is missing for a period of time
  • The controller disables the associated PHY due to excessive errors as a result of the disk’s unresponsiveness
  • Thus, this message is a consequence of a missing disk, not the earliest alert
  • Use Autosupport(ASUP) notifications for FILESYSTEM DISK NOT RESPONDING to monitor disk missing events
  • ASUP notifications can automatically open support cases for hardware issues, providing timely visibility

Example:
Callhome for FILESYSTEM DISK NOT RESPONDING
