General guidelines are as follows
7200 RPM 3.5" disks 75 Transfers
10000 RPM 3.5" disks or 7200 RPM 2.5" disks 120 Transfers
15000 RPM disks or 10000 RPM 2.5" disks 175 Transfers
SSD disks Unlimited* Transfers

Note: No limits are given for SSDs as they perform so well that generally CPU is 100% before disk latency is a factor, among other factors
