ONTAP Command Line Interface (CLI)

  1. Download All Current Disk Firmware in a single file or Individual Disk Firmware.
  2. Retain the file in original ZIP format.
  3. Host the file on an FTP, HTTP, or TFTP server.
  4. Use the storage firmware download command to retrieve the disk firmware to all nodes in the cluster (or optionally specific nodes requiring updates).
  5. Use the storage disk option show to verify the bkg-firmware-update parameter is set to on.
  6. The storage disk firmware show-update-status command can be used to monitor the update progress.
  7. When background disk firmware update is complete the results can be confirmed with How to determine the disk and shelf firmware version on a controller and verify it is up to date.
