Description

  • How to stop and start an ONTAP service daemon/process by using SPMD or the Kill command.
    • SPMD (Service Process Manager) monitors the service processes in ONTAP, they are polled at regular intervals to ensure that these processes are running.
    • SPMD will start them if they are not running.
    • The command line interface for SPMD is 'spmctl'.
    • The 'spmctl' interface can be used to stop and start an ONTAP service process.
  • You can also stop an ONTAP process directly by killing the PID within ONTAP.
