E0e and e0f ports are missing causing BIOS POST failure during ONTAP upgrade

Issue

  • After upgrading ONTAP, the e0e and e0f ports are not recognized when booting. ONTAP is up and running.

Sysconfig-a log:

  • BIOS POST failure with the following error message:

[SysFW.notice]: Device 10/0/0 (CNA0) missing
[IPMI.notice]: (PUA) Enable power to all PCIe slots
[IPMI.notice]: (PUA) Enable power to all PCIe on board device
[IPMI.notice]: (PUA) P_stat :slots=0x0,onboard_devs=0x0,final
[IPMI.notice]: (PUA) Power status of all PCIe slots unchanged
[Boot Loader.critical]: Abort Autoboot due to BIOS POST failure.

BIOS POST Failure(s) detected: PCIe device missing error detected. Abort AUTOBOOT
LOADER-B> 

  • The BMC event log includes an explicit PCI device missing error reported by the BMC.
