During giveback two FC ports fail on same HBA
Applies to
- ONTAP 9
- FCP
- Application-Specific Integrated Circuit -(ASIC)
Issue
- During maintenance (takeover/giveback), two ports using the same HBA application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) do not come up.
Sysconfig -a
may report two ports using the same ASIC asOperational Status: startup
- Host detects failed paths or lost access to LUN using FC target ports on the same ASIC.
- The two FC target ports on the same HBA / ASIC have not been reliable in the past going up and down at the same time.
- Example:
2a
automatically resetting,2b
is reported offline and may come back online for a short time after troubleshooting.
- Example:
- STIO and Adapter errors may be seen in the system log ( EMS).
- Resetting the switch port does not change the ONTAP target port status and
status-admin
isup.
- Switch, ONTAP SFP, and FC cable have been checked and replaced.
