Does action need to be taken for an ActiveIQ Alert for bug 1377298?
Applies to
ONTAP 9.3 and newer
Answer
- The bug is for an ONTAP upgrade disabling the rewarm and mbuf insert external cache options that were on prior to upgrade
- The alert is informational and would only impact upon a simple controller reboot (or takeover/giveback) as cache is not restored and reads go to disk instead of external cache
- Check ActiveIQ to see if FlashCache rewarm and mbuf inserts were enabled before the upgrade:
- Go to ActiveIQ
- Click AutoSupport
- Find a WEEKLY_LOG from before the ONTAP upgrade
- Go to EXTERNAL-CACHE-OPTIONS.xml and see if output was similar to below:
<ec_is_enabled>true</ec_is_enabled>
<ec_is_warm_enabled>true</ec_is_warm_enabled>
<ec_is_mbuf_inserts_enabled>false</ec_is_mbuf_inserts_enabled>
Re-enable FlashCache options, follow the documented workaround in BUG: 1377298
Notes:
- The bug can affect where either mbuf inserts and/or rewarming were true then both are false after the upgrade of ONTAP
- To determine if mbuf inserts (lopri) should be enabled for your workload, contact your account team for further assistance as Support cannot make recommendations for your specific workload
