This message occurs when redundant access to the disk storage is lost.

Validate

  • EMS reports "DISK REDUNDANCY FAILED"
    • ::> event log show -severity * -message-name callhome*

Mon Oct 17 19:16:56 +0800 [Nodename: dsa_disc: ses.multipath.ReqError:alert]: SAS disk shelf detected without a multipath configuration.

  • EMS reports "SinglePathToDiskShelf_Alert"

Tue Oct 11 23:31:23 +0800 [Nodename: mgwd: callhome.hm.alert.major:alert]: Call home for Health Monitor process nchm: SinglePathToDiskShelf_Alert[159491309057xxxxxxxx].

  • Note all channels with single path connectivity. Additionally, check for failures using these commands:
    • ::> system health node-connectivity shelf show
    • ::> system health system-connectivity shelf show
  • SYSTEM-HEALTH-ALERT.XML reports the following alert:

Controller Nodename has only a single-path configuration to disk shelf 18.10. This might occur when the controller does not have dual-path configuration to stack 18, a SAS HBA port on the controller connected to the disk shelf is disabled, or shelf-to-shelf cabling is incorrect.

Resolution

  1. Reseat the affected SAS port cable.
    • If the issue persists, replace the affected SAS cable.
  2. If the issue hasn't changed Reseat the SAS HBA
    • If the issue persists, replace the affected SAS HBA
  3. Confirm that redundancy has been restored by running:

::> storage disk show -fields disk,primary-port,secondary-name,secondary-port,shelf,bay

  1. Additionally, check for failures using these commands:
    • ::> system health node-connectivity shelf show
    • ::> system health system-connectivity shelf show
