Cluster switch rebooting with kernel panic and 'MissingPathFromSwitchToNSM' health alert

Issue

  • ONTAP Health Monitor raises alert: schm: MissingPathFromSwitchToNSM_Alert[3.10:B]

  • EMS log reports SwitchReboot_Alert raised and cleared repeatedly for the affected cluster switch

  • CSHM reports the switch's reason for not monitoring as "Invalid Model Number"

  • system switch ethernet show displays is-discovered: false for the affected switch

  • The switch is unreachable via SSH (management IP not responding intermittently)

  • Switch logs show repeated kernel panic with Machine Check Exception (MCE):

    %KERN-0-SYSTEM_MSG: mce: [Hardware Error]: PROCESSOR 0:50663 TIME <timestamp> SOCKET 0 APIC 0 microcode 700001e - kernel
  • show system reset-reason on the switch confirms: Reason: Kernel Panic

  • Switch uptime resets after each crash/reboot cycle
