Issue

  • Cluster e1a or HA Interconnect e1b port is down in ::> system node run -node node_name -command sysconfig -a output. Example:

slot 1: Dual 40/100G Ethernet T62100-CR
e1a MAC Address: 00:07:43:51:03:00 (auto-unknown-fd-down)
e1b MAC Address: 00:07:43:51:03:08 (auto-unknown-fd-down)
Device Type: T6 2
Firmware Version: 1.24.12.0
Part Number: 110122860B1
Hardware Revision: 0
Serial Number: PT09190900

  • The ONTAP event message system (EMS) report. Example:

Mon Apr 14 18:48:11 +0900 [node_name: intr: netif.linkDown:info]: Ethernet e0a: Link down, check cable.

or
netif.linkDown: Ethernet a0b: Link down, check cable.
netif.linkDown: Ethernet e1b: Link down, check cable.
vifmgr.portdown: A link down event was received on node ***, port e1a.
net.ifgrp.lacp.link.inactive: ifgrp a0b, port e1a has transitioned to an inactive state. The interface group is in a degraded state.
netif.linkDown: Ethernet e1a: Link down, check cable.

netif.linkUp: Ethernet e1b: Link up.
netif.linkUp: Ethernet e1a: Link up.

  • The issue remains after confirming the cabling is good connected to that port.
  • The issue remains after connecting the port to a different known working switch port.
  • The issue remains after the card re-seat.
