New node not booting due to NVRAM hardware initialization failed error

Issue

One of the nodes will not boot up in a new install due to the following errors:

Wed Nov 13 15:11:24 GMT [nvram.hw.initFail:CRITICAL]: NVRAM hardware initialization failed: NVRAM DDR clean failed.
NVRAM_IOCTL_INIT_STAGING failed.
Unable to initialize NVRAM staging.
/etc/rc.d/netapp_frulog: cannot create /var/log/netapp_frulog.log: No such file or directory
/etc/rc.d/netapp_bmr: cannot create /var/log/netapp_bmr.log: No such file or directory
