CONTAP-82891: For ONTAP health monitoring of Cisco switches, SNMPv2 traffic might still be seen after switching to SNMPv3 for monitoring

Issue

  • Starting with ONTAP 9.12.1, Ethernet switch health monitor (CSHM) now supports SNMP version 3 (SNMPv3) to monitor cluster and storage switches.
  • However, if a Cisco switch is being monitored by CSHM through SNMPv3, SNMPv2 requests using the default CSHM community string might still be seen on the network.
  • These requests are only used to obtain the SNMP engine information used in most SNMPv3 requests.
