Issue

  • Node cannot post even after motherboard replacement


  • BMC log messages like the following might be indicative of a battery that is not charged:


::Aug  6 16:15:05 BMC env_mgr[1595]: Payload EMS: EMS_nvmem_battery_noCharge(in 20 minutes)
::Aug  6 16:15:05  BMC env_mgr[1595]: Payload EMS: EMS_callhome_battery_failure(BATTERY (no charge))
::Aug  6 16:15:05  BMC env_mgr[1595]: Payload action: env_halt(1, Battery not charging) 


  • Also seen in BMC logs are I2C errors:
::Aug  6 16:15:05 BMC kernel: [9406834.400000] ERROR: I2C3: BUS recovery did not succeed
::Aug  6 16:15:05 BMC kernel: [9406834.400000] I2C3: Master-Xfer failed. Bus busy
::Aug  6 16:15:05 BMC kernel: [9406834.470000] ERROR: I2C3: BUS recovery did not succeed
::Aug  6 16:15:06 BMC kernel: [9406834.470000] I2C3: Master-Xfer failed. Bus busy
