Issue

  • DS460C/DE460C storage shelves with DCM3 drawers might encounter an unexpected disk path issue after inserting a drive into an empty disk bay, disk FRU swap, or during power cycling operation on an existing drive.
  • The disk path issue is the result of the disk PHY being in a disabled bypassed state and not recovering.
  • The issue occurs after the DCM3 firmware is upgraded from version 01000901/01010901 to version 01100902 – as part of an IOM12, IOM12B or IOM12C shelf module firmware update.

DCM3 firmware is bundled in IOM12, IOM12B or IOM12C firmware. The following upgrade scenarios can result in this issue occurring:
  • IOM12A FW 0401 (DCM3 FW 01000901) upgrade to IOM12A FW 0410/0411 (DCM3 FW 01100902)
  • IOM12B FW 0202 (DCM3 FW 01000901) upgrade to IOM12B FW 0210/0211 (DCM3 FW 01100902)
  • IOM12C FW 0103 (DCM3 FW 01010901) upgrade to IOM12C FW 0111 (DCM3 FW 01100902)

For E-Series E4000 enclosures:
  • IOM12G FW 0201 (DCM3 FW 01000901) upgrade to IOM12G FW 0210 (DCM3 FW 01100902)
