Description
From ONTAP 9.10.1 ONTAP System Manager has the capability to temporarily prevent case generation by declaring a maintenance window.
- We are planning to do some maintenance work. How do I stop unnecessary cases from being created by AutoSupport messages that are triggered during this scheduled maintenance window?
- How do I stop receiving e-mails or phone calls from NetApp technical support personnel during planned maintenance activity?
- What are the best practices for suppressing unnecessary AutoSupport e-mail cases during maintenance windows?
Procedure
- Login to System Manager
- Select CLUSTER -> Settings
- Select the ellipsis next to AutoSupport and select Suppress Support Case Generation
- Enter the duration of the maintenance window (up to 72 hours) and select the required nodes
- Click Send to trigger maintenance AutoSupports
Additional Information
- NetApp’s AutoSupport servers will typically process this message in 10-15 minutes.
- The maximum
<time>
duration is 72 hours. If a larger value is received, it will be reset to 72 hours. - If the maintenance window is longer than 72 hours, a second AutoSupport message will need to be sent to extend the maintenance window for the desired duration.
- If a subsequent Maintenance autsosupport is received while case suppression is currently in effect, the maintenance window is restarted with the new
