Performance issue on windows host due to faulty switch SFP

Issue

  • Users are facing read & write slowness on server which is connected to NetApp E-series storage through a brocade switch in between.
  • Windows server which is connected to brocade switch encountered below error message.
The IO operations at logical block address 0×14715xxxx for disk 2 (PDO name:\Device\MPIODisk0)was retried.

  • On E-series end below FC link errors are observed in events.

Error Critical 135950 1207 Fibre channel link errors - threshold exceeded 0/0/0 Channel Host-side: controller in bay B, port 2 Controller in bay B true true true

  • Post analyzing the Brocade supportsave logs we could see that the low Tx is reported on port1 of switch is connected with impacted windows server.
RX Power:    -4.3    dBm (375.8uW)
TX Power:    -7.2    dBm (188.8 uW)
  • Low TX indicates the issue with SFP on the switch.
