E-Series VPD EEPROM corruption - AutoSupport Message

Event Summary

  • E-Series controller(s) detected a corruption in Vital Product Data (VPD)  located in Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory (EEPROM).
  • The VPD EEPROM stores hardware configuration information (i.e Part Number, Serial Number) for E-Series systems, and corruption can lead to various problems. 

Validate

  1. The system event log under Support > Events reports a critical "VPD EEPROM corruption" event.
  2. Identify any recent maintenance activities (i.e Power outage) on the system.

Resolution

  • In the event of a recent maintenance activity, try rebooting the controller using Reset option in SANtricity System Manager or power cycle.
  • If no maintenance activities were identified, then
