MetroCluster backend LUNs show as failed after E-Series issue

Issue

After doing maintenance on the E-Series backend, and performing a staggered reboot of the E-Series controllers, a large number of backend LUNs show as failed, and ONTAP sends the following alert:

SYMPFA:System Notification from METROCLUSTER01-01 (SYNCMIRROR PLEX FAILED) ALERT
