E-series email test fails due to incorrect default gateway

Issue

  • When configuring email (SMTP) alerts in SANtricity System Manager, the “Test Email” function fails with an error message such as:

There was an unknown error on the mail server.

The mail server is not valid.

  • Or, in event logs:

[SMTPSender.java:171][requestId=...] SMTP sender error, com.sun.mail.util.MailConnectException: Couldn't connect to host, port: [SMTP_SERVER_IP],587; timeout -1

SMTP sender error, java.net.SocketException: Network is unreachable

SMTP message send failed to: [SMTP_SERVER_IP]
