StorageGrid Appliance unable to boot due to Kernel Hung Task Modprobe

Issue

  • SG6000 node rebooting, BMC SEL may show BMC issues or watchdog timeout.
  • SEL logs indicate a watchdog timeout.
  • Review of the boot console indicated that this was due to a communication error between the OS and the BMC, showing a Kernel Panic due to hung tasks with a hung task of Modprobe.
    • task modprobe blocked for more than 606 seconds
    • Kernel Panic - not synching: hung task: blocked tasks
