No, StorageGRID is not having a mechanism to check physical space savings after compression is enabled.

  • The grid has no knowledge of original object size vs. size on disk
  • The compression is only visible in the global view but not in the tenant view
  • Appliance is only aware of space consumed and reports accordingly
