How to approximate Keystone Consumption with LUNs
Applies to
- ONTAP 9
- Keystone
- AIQ Dashboards
- Thin-Provisioned Volumes (TPVs)
Description
- Keystone Logical Used is generally calculated by the method below:
- logical-used-by-afs + size-used-by-snapshots = Keystone Logical Used
- The above method is appropriate for NAS and LUNs contained within thick-provisioned volumes
- logical-used-by-afs + size-used-by-snapshots = Keystone Logical Used
- LUNs are logical containers whose size are added directly to logical-used-by-afs.
- When LUNs are in use with thin provisioning and space-reservation enabled, the calculation changes
- Thin provisioning and space-reservation impact the amount of space occupied by the LUN and must be considered to accurately meter Keystone Logical Used
- The following procedure can be used to determine the approximate consumption values to be counted toward the corresponding service levels for a specific TPVs containing one or more LUN(s)
