SnapCenter Plug-In installation fails due to stale service

Applies to

  • SnapCenter Server (SC)
  • SnapCenter Plug-In for Windows (SCW)
  • SnapCenter Plug-In for Exchange (SCE)
  • SnapCenter Plug-In for SQL (SCSQL)

Issue

  • When attempting to install the SCW plug-in package (with or without SCE or SCSQL) you may see the below error message generated in the SnapCenter_Windows_Host_Plug-In_Install_#######.log file

1-1-2021[12:00:00 PM]: Engine: property 'IS_STALE_SERVICE_EXIST' value now 'true'
1-1-2021[12:00:00 PM]: (CLR Action): SWInstallerHelper: CheckStaleServiceExist: SCWPluginService is exist, remove the service manually & re-try the installtion again 
1-1-2021[12:00:00 PM]: Action returned value 0x00000643
1-1-2021[12:00:00 PM]: Action 'CheckStaleServiceExist' returned status 0x80070643
1-1-2021[12:00:00 PM]: Original exit status: 0x80070643, final exit status: 0x00000643
