Issue

Symptoms:

Customers may observe the following behavior during storage discovery operations:

  • OTV 10.x fails host and aggregate discovery operations.
  • Discovery jobs report TimedOut status in the OTV user interface.
  • Backend storage systems remain healthy.
  • All discovery sub-tasks such as aggregates, hosts, volumes, and related objects complete successfully.
  • The OTV appliance is configured with a timezone other than UTC (for example UTC+8, UTC+5:30, UTC-5).
Log Signature:

The following messages may be observed in the OTV backend logs:

Changing job status to TimedOut
JobId:<job-id>
Error: Job is timed out
DiscoveryJobFailedCallBack
Discovery could not be completed, please trigger the discovery again.
Important :

Although the parent discovery job is marked as TimedOut, the underlying discovery operations complete successfully. The timeout status is the result of an incorrect timeout calculation and does not indicate a storage backend, ONTAP, network, or discovery task failure.
