Answer

Warranty: A default service which is provided to the customer as a part of the equipment/system sale which covers both hardware and software products. The life span of the warranty starts when the product (Serial Number) is shipped out on a Sales Order.

Service Contracts: are created when the customer purchases systems/equipment and requests service to be included in their purchase. This initial request will create a new contract with the terms of coverage that is desired by the customer. It is also referred to as a Support Contract.
