After the failed 0a.00.11 gets physically replaced by a new disk, ONTAP will start copying the data from the external disk 0b.01.1 to the new internal disk 0a.00.11.

However, when creating partitioned disks via Boot menu > 9 > 9a > 9b, ONTAP automatically creates the root aggregate with 2 partitioned disks and 3 data disks.

The root aggregate for the first one will be 8 data disks + 2 parity disks + 2 spares in a RAID-DP configuration, so 12 disks twice in the HA pair. The root aggregate for the second one will be 6 data disks + 2 parity disks + 1 spare in a RAID-DP configuration, so 9 disks twice in the HA pair.
