Trident backend failure with error 400 Bad Request

  • NetApp ONTAP 9.x

Issue

  • New Trident PVCs can't be created or new pods can't mount Trident PVCs
  • Trident backend is showing up with a failed status
  • When trying to update the backend, it failed with the following error message:

    Error: could not update backend Backend_name: problem initializing storage driver 'ontap-nas': error initializing ontap-nas driver; could not create Data ONTAP API client: error creating ONTAP API client: error reading SVM details: Post "https://svm_mgmt_IP/servlets/netapp.servlets.admin.XMLrequest_filer": EOF (400 Bad Request)
    command terminated with exit code 1
    Error: exit status 1
