Description

Clustered Data ONTAP 8.3 introduced Root-Data partitioning for entry-level FAS and All-Flash FAS (AFF) storage systems.
ONTAP 9.0 introduced Root-Data-Data partitioning for AFF storage systems, only. Eligible FAS systems continue to use Root-Data partitioning.

Follow this procedure to either:

  1. Initialize an unpartitioned storage system to use Root-Data-Data partitioning or Root-Data partitioning, depending on system eligibility.
  2. Convert a previously Root-Data partitioned AFF storage system to a Root-Data-Data partitioned AFF storage system.
