Why does a prefail drive not generate an AutoSupport?

Answer

  • ONTAP will not generate an AutoSupport when a drive is marked as pre-failed
  • ONTAP will start to copy the disk to a suiteable spare disk
  • Once the copy process is completed, the disk will be failed after being checked by ONTAP maintenance center and an AutoSupport generated
