Can disk shelves (any generation) be hot removed, hot swapped, hot moved or full power-cycled (completely/manually powered off and then back on within a live system) with NetApp Storage Appliances?

With Data ONTAP 8.2.1 or later, disk shelves can be hot-removed (physically removing disk shelves that have had the aggregates removed from the disk drives) in both 7-Mode and clustered Data ONTAP multipath HA configuration with DS14 disk shelves that is up and serving data. One or more disk shelves can be hot-removed from anywhere within a loop of disk shelves or a loop of disk shelves itself can be removed.
A stack of SAS disk shelves can be hot-added to an existing Fabric MetroCluster system that has SAS or FC disk shelves. In a stretch MetroCluster system, a SAS disk shelf can be hot-added to an existing stack of SAS disk shelves or to a SAS HBA or onboard SAS port on the controller (as a new stack).
