Beginning with the Element 11.3 management node release, the management node design has been changed based on a new modular architecture that provides individual services. Element 11.3 is the first release of this new architecture, and not all services have been migrated. With this change, some of the configuration points of the management node are different from previous versions. Specifically, some services are now configurable via a REST API, which includes a UI for easy access.

These modular services provide central and extended management functionality for NetApp HCI and SolidFire all-flash storage systems. Services include system telemetry, logging, and update services, the QoSSIOC service for Element Plug-in for vCenter Server, and NetApp Hybrid Cloud Control (HCC).
