Description

SnapCenter Plug-In for Exchange backups fail with the error VSS_E_VOLUME_NOT_SUPPORTED_BY_PROVIDER

Cause Resolution
Exchange database is stored on non-supported storage Migrate database to NetApp storage
Exchange host is unable to retrieve storage cache Check SSL configuration on SC server
Exchange host cannot resolve Storage Virtual Machine (SVM) name or IP Add DNS record for SVM management
VSS System Writer has insufficient permissions Restart VSS Services
SnapDrive Service(s) are still installed/active Uninstall SnapDrive and Repair the Plug-in for Windows
VSS writer SID has a .bak value in the host's registry Remove the .bak entries and reboot the host
