Answer

Log in to review customer bulletin SU490 for information on SSD Best Practices.

  • SSDs based on NAND flash memory will slowly leak charge over time if left for long periods without power. Per the JEDEC Solid State Technology Association, SSDs should not be unpowered for more than 2-3 months. Otherwise, the data might not be recoverable when power is reapplied. According to the JEDEC Solid State Technology Association report, the amount of time until data is at risk varies depending on the amount of wear on the SSDs and the temperature of the environment in which they are stored.
