Issue

  • Typically when a motherboard replacement procedure occurs, the personality of the UTA/CNA ports on the motherboard are carried forward to the new motherboard.  During boot the following message is seen:

A system reboot is required to apply personality changes for onboard UTA2 (CNA) ports.

  • After the system is rebooted, the personality of the UTA/CNA ports will be set the same as they were on the previous controller.  The controller will automatically enter maintenance mode to continue with post replacement procedures.
  • When this automatic process does not work as expected, the system will continue to boot with default mode setting (which varies by platform) for each onboard UTA/CNA port regardless if that was the previous settings of the impaired motherboard.
