Issue

  • A volume move is attemped, but fails while setting up the move operation.
  • When volume move show is run to determine the cause of the failure, Detailed Status indicates:

The volume is involved in a SnapMirror operation and cannot be moved until the SnapMirror operation is complete. Wait for the SnapMirror operation to finish or abort the SnapMirror operation by issuing a 'snapmirror abort -hard true' command.

  • As implied by Detailed Status, volume move can fail when there is an active SnapMirror relationship.
  • When snapmirror show is run, there is no SnapMirror relationship associated with the volume being moved.
  • In addition to the absence of a SnapMirror relationship, SKTrace logs in /etc/log/mlog/sktrace.log may contain the message:SM_VM: Failed to fence volume
