Issue

  • NDMP backups are failing with  the message maximum number of NDMP processes (36) forked
  • Example errors from the ndmp log:

ERROR: maximum number of NDMP processes (36) forked. Cannot accept connection from IP address: X.X.X.X port 55417 -- closing client [X.X.X.X].55417
ERROR: maximum number of NDMP processes (36) forked. Cannot accept connection from IP address: X.X.X.X port 50552 -- closing client [X.X.X.X].50552
ERROR: maximum number of NDMP processes (36) forked. Cannot accept connection from IP address: X.X.X.X port 53357 -- closing client [X.X.X.X].53357
ERROR: maximum number of NDMP processes (36) forked. Cannot accept connection from IP address: X.X.X.X port 40209 -- closing client [X.X.X.X].40209

 

  • On the backup application side, messages such as  server connection to file server...failed , or socket connection failed appear
