Answer

A node contacts the key manager when:

  • Booting
  • Creating a key for a new volume or rekey of an existing volume.
  • Deletion of a volume to remove the key.
  • At the request of one of the following commands:

security key-manager query

security key-manager restore

security key-manager show -status
