Applies to

  • ONTAP 9
  • Cloud Volumes ONTAP
  • Inode capacity (maxfiles)

Description

When a volume runs out of inodes, no more files can be created in that volume until the number of inodes is increased or existing inodes are freed.

  • inode"capacity" is the number of inodes that can be stored by the user in the volume per the current  -files value.
  • You can change the inode capacity (maximum number of files for a volume), but before doing so you should understand how this change affects the volume and aggregate.
