Applies to

  • ONTAP Select
  • VMware ESXi
  • ONTAP 9.14.1P4

Description

  • ONTAP Select node panics causing the node to reboot.
  • From the core file analysis we can see the following panic error:

Protection fault on VA 0 code 0 cs:rip 0x20:0xffffffff8c5e40bb in SK process wafl_exempt05 on release 9.14.1P4 (C)

  • Further analysis of the core file shows that the node panicked when a metadata update tried to modify inode fields while a delegation was still active.
  • This indicates a race condition between delegation handling and inode updates during rename operations.
