Applies to

  • MetroCluster IP
  • Partitions on disks are shared between clusters
  • Partition size of data (P1, P2) partitions is the same for both clusters
  • Partition size of root (P3) partition is the same for both clusters
  • Affected partitions are part of a mirrored aggregate

Description

  • Sharing partitions on a disk between multiple clusters is not supported
  • This KB contains the procedure for correcting split-cluster partition assignment in a MetroCluster IP configuration:
    • The goal is to swap incorrectly assigned partitions between the 2 clusters to result in all disks & contained partitions being owned by the same cluster
    • The procedure is intended to be generic as the problem can manifest in multiple ways, but the solution methodology is the same
  • To identify if this procedure is applicable to your system, please review the KB MetroCluster IP: How to check if partitions are shared between clusters?
