Link break detected on Fibre Channel adapter

Issue

  1. Fibre Channel Host Adapter offline or flapping.
  2. Determine if the SFPs in  Normal range
  3. Steps to isolate the source include the following on switch:
    • Review switch logs to confirm the issue is isolated to a single connection
    • Collect 'supportshow' switch logs.
      • Check 'porterrshow' to confirm switch sees the errors on the associated port
      • Check 'sfpshow -all' for the port hardware details
      • Review power RX and TX readings for abnormalities
  4. Replace or Reseat the SFPs switch and storage ends.
  5. In case, no obvious faults are found on switch/ Netapp, check for any patch panels involved with a potential hardware issue
