Issue

An Event Management System (EMS) warning appeared that a VLDB update failed for the "granular-data" property on a cluster which is using SnapMirror and/or volume clones.
Example EMS:
wafl.mp.vldb.update.failed: Updating the VLDB "granular-data" property of volume "..." to "disabled" failed. Reason: This operation is not permitted on a Vserver that is configured as the destination for identity preserve Vserver DR.

  • The EMS reason text might be different but will always mention the "granular-data" property.
  • This EMS appears multiple times but resolves on its own within 30 minutes.
  • This EMS might appear after an ONTAP software upgrade.
