FabricPool Solaris SAN host remediation

Issue

  • During ONTAP FabricPool S3 tiering outage, Solaris may report:
    • I/O failures,
    • I/O hang,
    • ReadOnly filesystem, etc.  
  • Below are some of the behavior based on UFS and ZFS:
    • UFS
      • I/O fails and filesystem will go to ReadOnly
      • Any read/write operation to FabricPool block of UFS gives "I/O error"
    • ZFS
      • filesystem will still be accessible. However, ongoing I/O will be in a hung and messages file reports continuous logging of slow/hung I/O
      • Any read command to ZFS mount point of FP blocks gives "I/O error"
      • Any write command to ZFS mount point of FP blocks gets hung
