Answer

  • When a qtree is created within a volume, it automatically inherits the export-policy of the volume.
  • If the parent volume changes to the assigned export-policy to a different one, the new policy is assigned to the qtree.
  • Inheritance continues until the export-policy assigned to the qtree is manually changed.
  • When inheritance is broken, the qtree will use its assigned export-policy, and changing the assigned export-policy of the volume does not change the export-policy of the qtree.
  • Whether the export-policy is inherited or not, changes to the rules within a particular export-policy continue to be effective wherever that export-policy is assigned.
  • To allow the qtree to inherit the volume export-policy again, remove the export-policy assigned to the qtree.
