CONTAP-366417: ONTAP upgrade pauses after five hours

Issue

  • ONTAP automated nondisruptive upgrade (ANDU) encounters a pause five hours after initiation:

upgrademgr: upgrademgr.update.pausedErr:error]: The automated update of the cluster has been paused due to the following reason: Error: Update timeout occured in State[Giveback]-- Tasks Pending in nodes <> Task Name: do-giveback-job, Action: Ensure that nodes are healthy and try resuming the update operation after some time
  • Checking the status of the upgrade reveals a timeout due to shelf firmware mismatch:

::> cluster image show-update-progress
Details:
Node name            Status            Status Description

cluster1-02          failed            Error: Task failed due to timeout
                                       Action: Ensure that nodes are healthy
                                       and try resuming the update operation
                                       after some time.
cluster1-03          waiting

10 entries were displayed.
Status: Paused - An error occurred in "ONTAP updates" phase. The update cannot continue until the error has been resolved (*shelf firmware mismatch error).
Resolve all issues, then use the "cluster image resume-update" command to resume the update.
