Unable to enter maintenance mode after mainboard replacement to adjust UTA ports

Issue

  • External kmip is configured.
  • Node-Management LIF IP to reach kmip server has home-port on UTA directly from the mainboard.
  • Mainboard was replaced.
  • The instructions for mainboard replacement explain that the service engineer should enter maintenance mode and use ucadmin to adjust the UTA personality.
  • Unable to enter maintenance mode using any method like boot_ontap menu, boot_ontap maint or CTRL-C during boot.
  • Node does not boot into Waiting for giveback either but on console it logs errors for reachability of external key management server:
WARNING: kmip_init: kmip_discover: Key server 10.0.0.1:5696 not responding, still trying
  • The boot arguments to set the UTA port to CNA Ethernet target mode 9 are set correctly becuas ethe boot media was moved over from original to replacement mainboard, for example:
fc-port-0e           9
uc-port-0e           cna
