Why is my performance tier more full than the tiering-fullness-threshold?

Answer

  • tiering-fullness-threshold does not indicate maximum amount of data stored in the performance tier
  • tiering-fullness-threshold specifies the percentage of space in the performance tier which must be used before data is tiered out to the capacity tier
  • With the default value of 50%, a 10TB aggregate will only start tiering data once it reaches 5TB of used space
