Unable to create LIF that is in a different IPspace than its vserver

Issue

The following error is displayed when creating a LIF:
 
cluster1::> network interface  create -vserver svm1 -lif lif1 -home-node cluster1-01 -home-port e0c -service-policy default-data-files -address 192.168.0.1 -netmask 255.255.255.0

Error: command failed: The specified port, node cluster1-01 port e0c, is not in the same IPspace as vserver svm1.
