How to repair information in VLDB
Applies to
ONTAP 9
Description
- VLDB (Volume Location Database) is a distributed cluster-wide database that contains volume location information required by an N-blade to direct file system requests to the correct D-blade within a cluster.
- There are other applications that use VLDB - management, data protection, Network Data Management Protocol (NDMP) dump/restore, Cluster Session Manager (CSM), and spinVFS.
- Under certain circumstances, VLDB information may get out of sync with regard to the D-blade information and will need to be repaired.
- The
debug vreportcommands are used to address inconsistencies between VLDB and WAFL - Note:
- Vreport locates and repairs discrepancies in VLDB compared to the D-blade information.
- It does not under any circumstances modify the D-blade information.
